Shopify's app store is buzzing. In the past seven days, 270 new apps went live. Here's what's actually worth paying attention to.
Compliance apps are having a moment
The EU now requires online stores to offer a simple "cancel my order" button. Merchants had until June to add it, but the category keeps growing anyway: Legal apps are up over 600% these last three months, and Returns and exchanges apps are up more than 750%.
The apps making it easy are winning big. EU Withdrawal Button & Form leads the pack at 4.9 stars across almost 2,200 reviews, and reviewers love how responsive the developer is — they've replied to the last 40 reviews in a row. Revoq is right behind it, with 501 reviews at the same 4.9 rating, handling order cancellations and partial refunds automatically.
If you sell into Europe, this is a quick, high-value box to tick this month.
Shopify just shipped a big update
Shopify's own changelog has been busy too: bulk staff account setup, a redesigned Point of Sale page, smarter checkout suggestions, automatic tax recalculation, and DHL Express now live in five more countries. Good news if you run a physical store or ship internationally — less setup work, more built right in.
One to watch: Katana Cloud Inventory
Katana Cloud Inventory just raised a €14M funding round and launched a new "Merchant Operating System" for brands selling everywhere, not just Shopify. It's real momentum — worth a look if inventory and production planning is on your radar.
Where the energy is
Beyond compliance, Analytics apps (+318%), Inventory optimization apps (+426%) and Fraud apps (+516%) were the biggest movers this quarter. If you're picking or building apps for your store, these are the categories with the wind at their back right now.
